Accountabilities:
- Build and maintain robust expertise in relevant therapeutic areas through continuous education and active monitoring of scientific literature.
- Implement local medical plans aligned with brand strategies to address unmet medical needs.
- Engage with key opinion leaders and enhance relationships within specific therapy areas.
- Provide medical-scientific training and education for AstraZeneca employees.
- Offer medical and clinical expertise to support brand strategy and product lifecycle management.
- Coordinate and implement scientific events and educational initiatives for healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with the Market Access team on scientific communication with healthcare authorities.
- Respond to medical and scientific queries alongside the Medical Information/Patient Safety team.
- Manage Early Access medicine requests according to local policy.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Minimum: Clinical/Life Sciences Degree or 2+ years of relevant experience in medical affairs within a pharmaceutical company
- Strong understanding of respiratory and immunology vaccines and immunotherapies, cardiovascular, renal, and metabolism therapeutic areas or ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly
- Professional experience in the healthcare industry
- High-level scientific knowledge and ability to analyze clinical and scientific data
- Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences
- Excellent project management ability
- Experience liaising with healthcare professionals
- Quick self-learner, standout colleague, and independent worker
- Driving license and willingness to drive within Ireland
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience as an MSL or equivalent experience in Medical Affairs within the mentioned therapeutic areas
- Engagement with healthcare regulatory authorities
- Experience in pre-launch, peri-launch, and post-launch phases of product lifecycle management
- Knowledge of local regulatory and market access requirements related to medical affairs activities
- Understanding of legal and ethical frameworks for medicinal product promotion and approval in Ireland
